Read the Bible in a Year? Naaa…

The men in our biblestudy last night decided to hit the Word hard.  We all quickly agreed that we each need to spend more time in the Word.  And as life is much busier now, as we are husbands and fathers, we must make personal bible reading a priority!  And we all know that working on this area of our spiritual life will strengthen all other areas of life.

We decided to go through a 90 Day Bible Program in which you read the bible in…yes I’m not kidding around…90 days.  It means you basically read around 15 chapters a day. Sounds pretty impressive doesn’t it?  Well, that’s not the reason we are doing it (or the reason why I am writing this).  The average time it should take you to read 13 to 15 chapters of the Bible a day is a mere 30 minutes.  So this committment does not involve you spending every waking second reading it.  But it does require a small, yet significant carved out time each day.

I want to encourage those who may be having difficult reading their Bibles, or who may not even have a set plan for reading.  Try this out.  If you are hesitant, try it anyways.  It lasts for 3 months, and just 30 minutes a day.  We figured the Lord should be given at least 30 minutes a day for listening to His Word!  In fact, the Lord deserves much more than that.  But this is the least we can do, not only to glorify Him, but to also grow in our relationship with Him as we feed on His very breath (Hebrews 4:12).  And we couldn’t wait until the new year to begin doing this.  So we decided to start September 1st.

Let me encourge you, if you don’t know where to start in reading your bible, or you are just plain having difficulty getting to it – get on the ball and join us!  And feel free to join us on September 1st as well.

Whether you decide to or not, all believers should be consistently reading God’s word.  Job even said in Job 23:11-12, that he hungered for the Word more than his necessary food.  So if Job was making sure to be in it (even more importantly than eating a meal) how much more should we!  And imagine reading the entire Bible four times a year.  Well…we’ll just start with 90 days and go from there!
